Hi, I'm Hollywood!

Meet Hollywood, the newest addition to our family.

She is quite the princess already rocking a hot pink pearl and rhinestone studded collar.

Hollywood is actually about 4 years old. She was rescued from the pound by a friend of mines niece. She was fixed and micro chipped but unfortunately her owner had to move and could not take Miss Hollywood with her, so we took her in.

She is a little spoiled already... sleeps in our bed and thinks that every time the front door opens she is suppose to jet outside to get into the car. :)

SideKix Giveaway and Review

Enter to win a SIDEKIX!

I recently had the opportunity to review a SIDEKIX! Well, really I should say that my three kids ages 7, 6 and 2 all fought over reviewing the absolutely adorable chick SideKix I received. I made the mistake of opening it in front of all of them and not having two extras to give them all one and oh my goodness. They LOVED IT!

This is such a cute little gift. Why not surprise your child with a back to school gift by stowing away a SideKix in your child's backpack for him/her to find when she arrives at school?

There is nothing cuter than a toddler Batman on Halloween

I recently had the opportunity to do a review for CostumeSuperCenter.com. They sent me a Batman costume for my little man and oh my goodness it was so stinkin cute!

The day it came in I immediately tried it on him and it was like a little transformation. My little guy immediately thought he was batman! We are already in this little Batman phase anyway. He has this little Batman action figure that he carries around everywhere. We were actually in Mississippi a few weeks ago and I got the cutest picture of him tucking in Batman in the bed at the hotel.

Anyway... he was running around the house, then running outside and climbing up on everything. We then of course had to take him over to his "meme's" (grandmothers) house so he could show off his costume!

The costume is just too cute! It comes with a mask, cape and then of course the jumpsuit! It is never too early to begin ordering those Halloween Costumes for your little ones so when it is time to do it, be sure to visit CostumeSuperCenter.com to place your order for discounted boys costumes! Check out this site for a little Halloween history!

Love your enemy and yes pray for them too

I am very pleased to say that last Sunday, our family made it to church. We have not been going nearly as often as we should. Why is it so hard to make it to church during the summer? Ugh! Anyway...
We came towards the beginning of a series called Shocking Statements of Jesus. It really put some things in perspective for me this week. You know, it is so easy to love someone who loves you. When your boss is kind and praises you, he is a great boss! When your husband is affectionate and loving, he is a great husband! When your kids are patient and kind, they are great kids!

When you feel as though your boss is coming down on you, he is a horrible boss. When it seems as though your husband is focused on anything and everything but what you feel as though you need, he is a horrible husband. When you have one of those days where you think surely these children can not be mine... they are horrible kids!
Well you know when it comes to your children and husband, you love them at their worst because you just love them. Now, when it comes to your boss probably not so much.

Matthew 5:43-45 You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.

Gosh, that is so difficult at times isn't it?

When that police officer pulls you over and gives you a ticket for speeding, it is awful hard to love him.

When you have those relatives who every single time you get around them it seems as though they suck the happiness right out of you with their constant negativity, it is awful hard to love them.

When you have that Facebook friend that you almost hate to see a status update from because it is either a complaint about something or a post about someone they know who looking for something to be given to them for FREE because they are "going through a hard time" and you are thinking to yourself geeze you sure do know a ton of people "going through a hard time" is there some special group or something that I am missing out on? Because when my washing machine broke I had to go out and buy one... actually I am probably about to have to go and buy a new dishwasher next week.

So you mean to tell me I am suppose to LOVE the lady that I made a sales call on earlier this week that pretty much tried to make me feel as though I literally screwed up her entire day by walking into her place of employment. What was actually so crazy was the fact that her company is a non-profit that relies on support from people like me so you would think she would have used me coming in as an opportunity to tell ME about HER organization. But moving on...

I am suppose to love her too? Oh and not just LOVE her... I am suppose to pray for her!

Well the preacher during this sermon was saying (in a joking manner) that when he is dealing with a person that he is just having such a hard time loving he just stops and prays for them right then!

Like when you are dealing with that rude employee at a local business just stop and say "Jesus, you know I just know that Ann has to be having a rough day today. Because if Ann wasn't having such a rough day I just know that there is no way she would have been this rude and inconsiderate of my feelings when I walked in here today. So Jesus I just pray that Ann has a better day."

And just walk out...

When is bedtime?

Experts recommend that children between five and twelve need nearly eleven hours of sleep to be at their best. Most children in that age group get nine hours or less. Teens need at least nine hours of sleep each night. What time is a good bedtime for your child?

Well take for example my little man Collin. When he comes home from daycare at around 5:30 he is normally already completely spent! He is cranky and honestly would probably go to sleep right when we got home if I let him. Normally we will feed him, bathe him and by 7pm he is out!

People of all ages sleep better if they have an established routine that they follow each night before going to sleep. This is especially true of children. However, when they’re heading back to school after being out for the summer, it may be hard to re-establish that routine.

What time is a good bedtime for your child? Actually, your child’s doctor will be able to determine the best time for your child to go to sleep. They will be able to tell you how much sleep would give them the most restorative benefits.

Based upon the doctor’s recommendations, determine the amount of sleep your child needs each day. If they are very young, they may get some of their required sleep in at naptime. If they have started first grade, they no longer get a naptime. Do you know how to tell if they haven’t had enough sleep? They fall asleep in the car, you have to wake them in the morning, they stay up late, they’re unusually cranky during the day, or they rub their eyes a lot.

Limit the amount of sugar and caffeine your child eats before bedtime. Sugary drinks or snacks will cause the child not to sleep, rather than help them get to sleep. Having sugary snacks close to sleeping also is not healthy as they won’t be able to adequately digest their food and allow the body to work they way it should during sleep.

Set a specific time in which your child should be in bed. If they have to be up by 7:00 a.m. and they’re young, they’ll need to be in bed ready to sleep no later than 7:00 p.m. If they’re older, they may be able to stay up a little past 8:00 p.m., but not much.

Establish a routine that will help your child unwind – bathing, brushing their teeth, reading a story, or doing another quiet activity should help relax your child and ease them into sleep. If possible, follow your child’s cues. Teach them to recognize those cues as well so they will be able to go to bed without having to be told.

How do you know what is a good bedtime for your child? Try to encourage them to get at least ten hours of sleep a night. They may not always make that amount, but they’ll feel better the closer to it they get.

So what is your bedtime routine?

Did you know, the most popular body parts for piercing are the ears, tongue and navel. This is because these areas are the least painful and are in sight?

Noxicare Review

Have you ever heard of Noxicare? Noxicare claims to be a fast acting, long lasting, natural pain reliever. You know what? I would have to agree with them! I had the pleasure of trying Noxicare recently and I was amazed at how it actually worked. You know, you hear about so many products out there now a days (especially cremes) that claim to do this or that only to be slightly disappointed when you try it.

So let me just share with you what I totally loved about it. It has to scent to it! Have you noticed how so many of those pain relief creams out there have that that eucalyptus smell to them? This one does not!

You rub it on and it absorbs into your skin instantly with no residue left behind! It actually works! I had my husband rub it on my neck and lower back which had been extremely sore and within just a couple of minutes the pain had gone away without any type of numbing feeling.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Revenge of the Vegetarian Book Review

I recently read the book Revenge of the Vegetarian which is supposed to be “A Humorous Spin on the World of Vegetarianism”. I have to admit I was not all that impressed with the book when I received it. The graphics are terrible and it is 70 pages of ignorance in my opinion. You know, I think that I am a reasonably intelligent person. I also think I have a great sense of humor. This book was meant to be comical but I did not find it entertaining in the least. I actually found it very offensive. Maybe that is really what the author was going for?

For starters, I am a Christian and very proud to say that I am a Christian. Am I perfect? Absolutely not, no one is but I can assure you that when I lay my head down on my pillow tonight I will be praying for the author of this book.

I am not a vegetarian. I have nothing against vegetarians and to be honest with you I was actually kind of excited about reading this book because I honestly thought it would provide me at least a bit of intelligent insight into vegetarianism but to be honest with you, this book is a total joke.

The author, Jim Tilberry jokes about bringing a “psychic” in and then jokingly this “psychic” is supposed to be interviewing people like Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates, Susan B. Anthony and Jesus. This author actually quoted Jesus’s response to the question “So did you stick with a meatless diet to the very end?” as “Almost. During the Last Supper when I was out back taking a leak, Judas secretly put goat meat in my vegetable bowl. What a d*ck. I never could trust that dude. Anyway I had stomach problems all the next day. Needless to say, my indigestion made it a bad day. Not to mention the crucifixion thing.”

Aside from the fact that the entire book sucked and a more intelligent read could have been written by my seven year old, you succeeded in getting your name in print. I actually hate the fact that I had to type a review to give you the 5 seconds of fame that you so clearly desire but I am a woman of my word and follow through with my commitments and I accepted this review through Tomoson and had to complete it.

5 Beauty Tips for Summer

This summer, you can expect the heat and humidity that always comes along with all the fun the season offers. It can be hard to feel beautiful when you're dripping sweat under a head of frizzy hair! Here are some beauty tips for summer so help you keep a glowing, vibrant look despite the heat.

Hydration

It's pretty amazing how much thirstier you are in the summer than in the winter, and there's a reason for that. You're losing a lot of water in the form of sweat, and daylight hours are long, meaning more exposure to heat and the consequent sweat.

Keeping yourself hydrated in important. It helps prevent heat stroke, dry skin, and other health issues. Healthy is beautiful! So keep water handy wherever you are, and take it with you whenever you leave the house. You can also eat lots of hydrating fruits like peaches, plums, and melons. These are good for you, too, supplying lots of healthful nutrients.

Go Light on the Make-Up

Thick, opaque make-up can run and streak in summer, and frankly, it just looks stifling in the heat! Dark, thick eye make-up may streak and run when you sweat, too. Soft colors and light coverage are key. If you have blemishes, go with a concealer and a light, low-pigment base with sunscreen.

Avoid Sun Damage

In the old days, a tan was considered "healthy." But now we know that it's anything but! Tanning is sun damage, plain and simple, and the possibility of developing skin cancer is raised exponentially with each sunburn. Bad sunburns also peel and even blister, which doesn't help your make-up efforts or your facial skin's health and beauty. So wear light sunscreen daily - in fact, you can use a lightly pigmented sunscreen daily in lieu of base make-up.

Up-Dos

Summer is a great time to experiment with up-dos. Your hair can look frizzy or stringy in the humid, sweaty days of summer. Wearing your hair up also looks and feels cooler. Light clips and pins can keep hair up without a lot of accoutrements.

Speaking of hair, those with curly hair can avoid frizz by using gel (for thick hair) or mousse (for thin hair).

Long and Flowy

When it's hot, no one wants to wear long pants and sleeves. But if you aren't comfortable exposing these areas, go for the flowy look. It can be very beautiful and comfortable at the same time. Long skirts and light, flowy shirts can be quite flattering and still allow for ample air circulation.
