Catholic School Teachers Claims She was Fired over Fertility Treatments

Emily Herx claims that she was fired over from the Catholic school where she had been teaching for seven years because of Catholic doctrine forbidding in vitro fertilization. The 32-year-old mother is now suing the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and St Vincent de Payl School for discrimination. She says her dismissal came completely out of the blue and that for two years her supervisor had known about it and said she was praying for her and her husband.

So was this supervisor praying for Emily because she felt like what they were doing was wrong?

Catholicinfertility.org states that a procedure that assists marital intercourse in reaching its procreative potential is moral and any procedure which substitutes or suppresses a need for marital intercourse is immoral.

It also states that obtaining a semen sample by means of masturbation, artificial insemination using sperm from a donor (AID) or even the husband (AIH) if obtained by masturbation and in-vitro fertilization (IVF), zygote intra-fallopian transfer (ZIFT), and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), ovum donation, "surrogate" uterus are in disagreement with Catholic teachings.

Now, the school denies that there was any discrimination. They claim to have clear policies requiring that teacher in its schools must, as a condition of employment, have a knowledge and respect for the Catholic faith and abide by the tenets of the Catholic Church.

Do Mom Blogger Cyber Bullies Exist?

I am just a tad bit addicted to mom blogs. Well actually it is probably pretty safe to say I am 100% totally addicted. I think it is just really refreshing to read about what other moms are experiencing and thinking OMG! Really? Thank God I am not the only one! Once you begin reading mom blogs its almost like you fall into a mom blogging hole. One mom blog takes you to another and then you click on a linky that takes you to another and then a button ad and your at another mom blog... it is never ending. :) I LOVE IT!

Anyway... in my daily browse today I stumbled across a blogger who was ranting about mom bloggers "buying" their Facebook likes. Now to be honest with you, I don't have an opinion either way. Well actually... maybe I do. Yeah, actually I do.

I could really care less if a mom blogger is paying someone to get her Facebook fans, Twitter followers, etc. I mean come on! I guess I am too busy working a full time job, running after 3 kids (four if you include my husband) and managing a small business to care if some blogger is paying a company to get her Facebook "likes". This blogger then puts up a screenshot of this mom bloggers Facebook fanpage Insights (of course leaving out the name of the blog) as "proof" then she actually posts updates on how the "accused" has removed her INSIGHTS from her main row. Then she posts another update on how she moved it BACK to the main row so she knows that this mommy blogger is now stalking her blog... blah blah blah.

Oh my goodness. Really? So my question is... do Mom Blogger Cyber Bullies exist? What are your thoughts?

A lovely day at my local ear, nose and throat doctor

Earlier this week I called our local ENT clinic to schedule an appointment. I wasn't sure if I would be able to schedule it on my own or if I would need a referral. Thankfully I didn't need a referral because of the type of insurance I have.

Receptionist: Thank you for calling the blah, blah, blah
Me: Hi! I need to schedule an appointment and was wondering if I need a referral or I can just schedule it on my own.
Receptionist: What type of insurance do you have?
Me: Blue Cross
Receptionist: No you don't need a referral.
Me: Ok I need to schedule an appointment.
Receptionist: Ok. What are your symptoms?
Me: Itching in my ears (yes weird... I know), sinus drainage, etc.
Receptionist: You do know we are a Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic right?

Ummmm.... you don't say?

At this point I just say uh yeah I do and I need to make an appointment. LOL. What the heck kind of question is that. I just gave you some basic symptoms that all involved my EARS, NOSE and THROAT.

Moving on...

So I go to the appointment today and make the mistake of bringing my husband along. Mistake? Yes, mistake. He totally embarrasses me. So I am like 5'0 tall. Well really I am like 4'11 but I like to say I'm 5'0 tall. With decent shoes on I'm 5'0 tall. Lets just leave it at that. Anyway...

Over the past couple of months I have gained a little weight. I would love to be 100lbs. LOVE IT! But 3 kids later I think I should be happy with like 105-110ish (even though I'm totally not). But on the bright side I did calculate my BMI and I fall within "Normal Weight" so I guess I should be happy (even though I'm totally not). My problem is I drink WAY too much sugary drinks. Mountain Dew is the killer for me. If I could just cut Mountain Dew out of my life I know I could be like 100lbs. But if I cut Mountain Dew out... my life is officially over and I have no energy. :)

Moving on...

So I get called back and my husband comes trailing behind me. They have me step up on the scale and all of a sudden the scale just goes crazy! Hits 100lbs then 110 then 120 then 168 up to 179 down to 145 up to 150 and I just say "What the heck is wrong with the scale?" and then all of a sudden it goes down to 116 which was a surprise for me because I thought I was at like 112 so that was the point where I wanted to strip down to just what Jesus gave me and demand a do-over but I composed myself and went into the room.

As I sit in the chair my husband is just smirking. I figure he is smirking because I had complained about being 112lbs so I am sure when he saw 116lbs he really thought it was funny. Especially considering he is always complaining about his weight and I tell him I love him just the way he is... that he is "fluffy". I never understood why he use to get so pissed off when I called him fluffy. I mean when I think of fluffy I think of a big ole white teddy bear. The kind with real soft fur that is nice to sleep with. Well I quickly understood that the term "fluffy" should never be used in a discussion of weight when I complained about my weight one day and he said "Oh its ok baby... your just fluffy." What the hell!? Fluffy is no longer in my vocabulary thank you very much.

Anyway... so Nick is smirking, the nurse is smirking and I'm wanting to punch them both in the face when all of a sudden he laughs and then I'm like what the heck is so freaking funny? That is when he tell me that he put his foot on the back of the scale pushing it up and down and that is why it was going so crazy. Then the nurse looks over and says yeah... I didn't want to say anything.

I can not take this man anywhere...

Work is easier when you love the chick you work with!

I have the fabulous pleasure of working with Heather from This Girl's No Expert. Sometimes I go home at night and as I do random things throughout the house like clean, cook, put babies to bed I just can't help but laugh at random conversations we have throughout the day.

So today my husband emailed me at work to tell me that he "Liked my picture." Apparently he went to the company website and saw my new photo on there. So I playfully respond back with "Stalking is a crime ;)" A little while goes by and he asks me for some agreement template I don't have in which I responded with "Would you like me to use some of my internet magic and find one for you online." In which smarty pants replies back with "I will take some magic myself please (since lord knows there isn't any between the sheet)."

Really? Did he really just say that to me? So then I just had to share a little story from the night before with Heather and we got a good laugh.

Is what I am about to share TMI? Probably so. Would my husband probably prefer I didn't share? Probably so but you know unless one of you fabulous readers tells him he will never know because he doesn't read my blog. Its the stuff I post on Facebook that I get in trouble for...

Anyway... so lastnight I come home from work and head straight into the kitchen to cook him a fabulous dinner. Ok so it was macaroni noodles and spaghetti sauce but the fact that I was actually cooking is what made it fabulous. Moving on...

He leaves to go run some errands so I am home cooking with our holy terror of a dog that I swear to you seeks out stuff to destroy just to piss me off and our 2 year old little man that was in an absolutely terrible mood. So I am cooking as little man crunching up fig newtons all over my kitchen floor and as I tell him to stop he points his finger at me and tells me to "LEAVE HIM 'LONE". Ummm... yeah no. So then I tell him to pick them up and throw them away and he tells me to "GO AWAY." Lovely. Just lovely.

I get dinner cooked, feed little man and then put him in the bath. I attempted to play with him but after I put on his pull up he climbed right into bed and told me to "GET OUT". I keep asking myself what in the world happened to my sweet child and I still have not come up with an answer but I am hoping he will return to me any day now.

Anyway... so I decide to pour myself a glass of wine (or two or three) and get in the bath myself. I am getting out right as my hubby comes home. He walks in the bedroom right as I am standing in front of the closet looking for one of his big tshirts to put on... naked. Yes, too much information... I know, I know.

Hubby: Ohhh what do we have here?
Me: (In a playful manner) Come on! :)
Hubby: Let me eat first.

Really? Really? REALLY? Ok let me go ahead and inform you dinner sucks so I am sure taking another 5 minutes before you eat isn't going to kill you. Yeah... I said 5 minutes. Bahahahaha if my husband read this he would be all over me for that comment. LOL

Anyway so I get my little bedtime cocktail kicking... 2 benadryl (living in the South with all these blooming flowers is killing me), a Tylenol PM and a nice glass of wine. :) I hop into the bed with my laptop and within a few minutes I am ready to crash.

So the next day I go to work and me and my fabulous friend Heather are chatting about our husbands and sharing all kinds of personal information that our hubby's have no idea we talk about. When I start telling Heather about the night before...

Me: So I come home from work and immediately start cooking and Nick just bails. Went to "run errands" leaving Collin with me tearing up the house. I'm cooking and he is crushing fig newtons all over my kitchen floor. I finally get him in the bath and to bed and then jump in the bath myself. Nick comes home right as I am standing in front of the closet (Naked) and he's all like "What do we have here" and I'm like "Come on" and he's like "I got to eat first" and I'm like "Seriously?"

Heather: Nah uh

Me: Yep. So then I take my Benadryl, Tylenol PM and drink a couple glasses of wine and as I am coming in and out of consciousness and do you know he climbs into bed with me and comes knocking at the gate????

Heather: Nocking at the gate?

Me: You don't what I mean.

Heather: Hahahahahahahaha

*Whoops --- for a minute there I forgot we had to contractors working in the office today. Hi Carlos!

Eden Wood on Wendy Williams Show

First, I am going to start off by saying that I have nothing against pageants. I am not a huge fan of glitz pageants but to be honest, I love pageants. I didn't even know who Eden Wood was until I saw some posts about her on Facebook by some young girls that just "LOVED EDEN WOOD". So I googled her and found a few videos and she is such a cute kid.

However, I was very disappointed with this interview that I saw on the Wendy Williams show. To me she just seemed so fake and over coached. I'm not sure of her age but I believe she is 6 or 7. She was so very disrespectful. Don't get me wrong, I think she is precious and absolutely full of personality but I think this poor child is going to have such a tough time relating to kids her age.

I personally think the whole "What about your hair" comment was rehearsed. To me it seemed like she knew that question was going to be asked and had been coached in her what was suppose to be cute (but wasn't) response. What 6/7 year old says "Oh yeah baby!". I also thought it was so bratty when she told Wendy not to sing her song.

Then at the end when she was dancing in front of that fan... OMG! This is a CHILD! Let the poor baby BE A CHILD.

Now this interview was much more real to me! She is actually being a child!

A Pageant with a Purpose

The Miss Heart of the USA Pageant strives to provide ladies of all ages with the opportunity to have fun, establish lasting friendships, build confidence, and self esteem; all while encouraging them to get involved with organizations in their community, that benefit those in need.

Miss Heart of the USA Queens are involved at the local level with many organizations like the humane society, the March of Dimes, Children's Hospitals, etc.

The pageant began as a food drive for a local Rescue Mission and blossomed into a National Pageant Program that has distributed over 750,000 non perishable food items to non profit organizations, collected toys for Toys for Tots and even assisted a Women's Hope Center by collecting much needed baby items to be distributed to mothers in need.

So what makes this pageant so different? When I began this program I wanted to teach the contestants and future queens the importance of giving back to their community. She wanted to do something that at the end of the day, the girls could look around a room and see the impact they had made. The very first pageant collected over 3,500 non perishable food items.

In 2010 their program sponsored the Miss Pink Pageant and raised over $3,000 for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides event. In Christmas of 2011 a pageant was held for Sand Hills Santa and over 850 toys were collected to be distributed to hospitalized children all over North Florida.

The Miss Heart of the USA Pageant currently holds State Pageants in

Massachusetts

The Miss Heart of the USA National Pageant will be held on November 17th, 2012 at the International Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida. Each year, Miss Heart of the USA awards a $5,000 Scholarship at Nationals. Winner from each state pageant will advance to Nationals with their entry fee paid where they will represent their state. If you live in a state that does not currently have a state pageant, you can register at large to represent your state. You will receive a rhinestone crown, monogrammed sash, rhinestone sash pin and referral cards and can immediately begin representing your state as a Miss Heart of the USA Queen. We have a division for all ages!

2 Infants Die While Sleeping In Bed with Mom

I just don't understand this? The first baby was in the bed with both parents and it was determined that the cause of death was SIDS. The second baby is born and dies in bed with mom too within a 14 month span. What do you think? I don't really know what to think. I mean I pray that this mother hasn't done anything to these children but is it possible that they both suffered from a medical condition? What do you think?

WAFF in Huntsville, Alabama ran a news report about a woman waking up to find an intruder in her bed. Now thankfully, the woman was not harmed because her brother heard her scream and came into her rescue. Now normally this type of story would not be funny at all but this story took an unusual turn.

Her brother was interviewed on camera...

He quickly became an internet sensation! His warning to residents of Hunstville, Alabama “Well, obviously we have a rapist in Lincoln Park; he’s climbing in your windows, he’s snatching your people up, trying to rape ‘em, so you all need to hide your kids, hide your wife, and hide your husband ’cause they’re raping everybody out here”. He quickly had millions of views.

There was a remake of the video with a catchy little tune added.

How there is nothing funny about what happened to his sister but you just have to love this guy! WAFF aired his outright honesty and it is just hilarious. The song is available on iTunes.

I kept watching this video and knew he reminded me of someone and then it finally hit me.

Maybe I have just watched Madagascar too many times.

I have never had issues with allergies like I have this year. It has been absolutely horrible. I have never been one to take much medication but this year I have had to have a cocktail of Benadryl and Tylenol PM to get me to sleep every night.

I can say this though, two Benadryl and a Tylenol PM will give you the best night of mommy rest you have had in ages. :) I don't know what is blooming in our area that has me so messed up but the itchy eyes, throat and runny nose is killing me. I wish whatever is blooming would just die already...
